Certifier of Nord Stream-2 works withdraws over sanctions

MOSCOW, Nov 26 (PRIME) -- Norway's Det Norske Veritas - Germanischer Lloyd, a company that  checked the documents and construction works for the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline for standard compliance, discontinued participation in the project, a company official told reporters on Thursday.

The official said that the firm sees its activities of vessel inspection as subject to the sanctions under the U.S. Protecting Europe's Energy Security Act of 2019 (PEESA).

In October, the U.S. extended sanctions against the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline to include the companies that upgrade or install equipment on the ships laying the pipeline.
